In the Watering series of photographs, I am exploring a land that is in the process of being transformed by man and by natural and seasonal elements, including water and wind. The land is a single farm in Idaho that is being changed from unused desert farmland into a working horse and alfalfa farm. The necessary irrigation water is provided to all the farms in the area by a waterfall, formed when snow run-off water is released from a reservoir in May until it is turned off again in October. The rhythm of the seasons, the clockwork harvesting of alfalfa, and the cyclical changes of the landscape are all reflected in the images of this series.
